A Polk County jury has found a Des Moines doctor not guilty of seven counts of involuntary manslaughter.
Dr. Daniel Baldi broke down in the courtroom and hugged his attorney Guy Cook when the verdict was read on Thursday afternoon.
Prosecutors charged Baldi with prescribed pain medications to patients that later led to their deaths.
But the defense argued all along there was no proof the deaths were realted to Baldi's actions. It also contend the patients in question either took more than the prescribed dosage or they used other drugs in addition to what had been prescribed for them.
