Des Moines Shooter Dies

Des Moines Police confirmed that 38 year old Steven Vogel died overnight from a gunshot wound after terrorizing a neighborhood in the 1100 block of Creston Wednesday afternoon with at least 100 gunshots fired at seven houses and three cars.

Sgt. Jason Halifax says Vogel, whom they're familiar with, died at Methodist Hospital. Crime scene investigators remain at the scene.

75 year old Larry Childs of Urbandale was grazed in the head with a flying bullet. Des Moines Police are expected to confirm today if a police officer's bullet struck and killed Vogel, and if it was Vogel's bullet that hit the senior citizen.

Two officers are on administrative leave after the incident, 22 year veteran David Siebert, and 1 year veteran Zachary McCarthy are the identified officers.
