Police are investigating a fatal, car-motorcycle crash in the 2100 block of Grand Avenue that happened just before 11 am Thursday.
Des Moines Police Sergeant Jason Halifax says witnesses say the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The driver of a car, a 16 year old boy, was attempting to pull out of a parking space, and do a u-turn and head West on Grand Avenue.
Halifax said, "They were just at the otherside of the hill, there may have been some visibility issues right there. Factor that with the posibility of increased speeds, those may have been contributing factors."
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Names in the crash have not been released.
